I am finally here! It's been a busy past few weeks mostly because I tried (and I think I failed LOL) to tie up loose ends at work to prepare for my 3-week vacation. That's the reason why this blog has been mostly inactive in February...and why I haven't completely caught up with Glee yet!
Anyway, it's actually my second day here, but yesterday was uneventful and I did nothing but eat and sleep (plane rides always make me food and sleep deficient). Nothing to write home about. From today until the end of my vacation, I'll try to do a daily update. Be warned though: it will be mostly about window shopping and eating and barely any sightseeing...so it will be vacuous. This is a shopping diary, I'm entitled to be shallow! :)
The thing about Chicago, while it is probably my favorite city in the U.S. for being so damn convenient, it's not the best place to go for a first-timer who wants to go visit famous landmarks or places. No Statue of Liberty here, no Hollywood sign, no White House, no Liberty Bell to see. This is probably Chicago's most famous landmark already:

We did go to church today and I got a glimpse of the new and improved Holy Name Cathedral, where my niece will be baptized in a couple of weeks. I really love this church:
Next up: Chow! The food place was so crowded I forgot to take pictures of what we ate. But it was delicious and tons better than airplane food for sure.
Then I got ten minutes to look around the mall. No time to browse, but these shops are waiting for me tomorrow (they're all in one floor in the mall too!):
Aaah... I can't wait!

Maraming naiinggit back "home" hehe :)
ReplyDeleteHi Vera! Ang lamig dito! I can't go out much yet, unless we take a car everywhere which is so inconvient. Hope you guys are ok back there :)
ReplyDeleteI liked looking at the Frankl Lloyd Wright houses (even if I didn't know who he was prior to looking at them:p). If I go back to Chicago, I want to do the whole audio-walking tour of that street.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's a botanical garden in Chicago! That's always nice :)

ReplyDeleteJill: The Frank Lloyd house is just two blocks away from where we are! Where did you stay here in Oak Park? We're just like a street crossing away from the town center (the one with the Lake theater)
ReplyDeleteJudy: Hey nice to see you here! I didn't see that comment, did you post it anonymously? I think my settings automatically consider that as spam, so I don't get to see it? (dami kasing spam comments so I screen comments first). Thanks btw! This is really just one of the items on my bucket list which I really have to do :)
