Especially with this wedding gown:
More details of the lace overlay:
Even the skirt is fully overlaid in (hand-sewn) lace
When I first saw Kate emerge in that dress, I immediately thought it was very reminiscent of Grace Kelly's gown! Then I started looking online, and realized Grace Kelly is not the only prominent lady to have a "sheer sleeved top over a bustier" wedding dress.
Here's the Grace Kelly gown (worn in 1956). In fairness, Rainier looks so gwapo here:
Princess Margaret (sister of Queen Elizabeth) in 1960:
Princess Marie Chantal of Greece (wife of the crown prince) in 1995:
Ivanka Trump is not royalty, but she's just as rich (and besides, I adore this dress so much):
It's a classic design that will look timeless even thirty years from now. Very good choice, Kate! You are truly a budding fashionista.

I love Grace Kelly's! :) I loved Kate's gown to but a part of me still thought it was too simple for the occasion---para bang there were already so many brides all over the world who wore what she wore.Medyo anticlimactic. Until you get to read about how the lace on her dress was hand sewn, medyo hard to appreciate her dress :) But I agree, very classic :)
ReplyDeleteJudy, I like the top of Grace Kelly's dress, but the bottom is like an inverted tulip. And the train is parang kinabit lang. I like the bottom part of Kate's dress a lot better, ganda ng pleating. So if you combine Grace Kelly's top with Kate's bottom part, that would be the best for me :)
