Here We Go Again: Jason Wu For Target

Five years ago, very few people knew who Jason Wu was.  I was not one of them.

And then this dress happened:

Jason Wu became a household name when Michell Obama wore that dress to her husband's inauguration as U.S. President.  And now Jason joins Rodarte, Zac Posen and Missoni (among others) as the latest designer collaborator of U.S. retailer Target.  The complete line launches online and in stores on February 5, 2012.

After the Missoni madness of 2011, I vowed to take a break from shopping these designer collaborations, but Jason Wu's Target collection is just too darn cute, I know I'm going to break that vow!  The clothes in the collection are generally not my cup of tea, but here are some pieces which caught my eye:

I want that turquoise blue pointelle cardigan!  At $39.99, it's still a bit pricey so I'll probably take the risk and wait for it to go on sale.  That look is my favorite of the entire collection.

This red and blue stripe top is the one item of clothing that I will get on launch date.  Again, a bit pricey for $19.99 but I really like the nautical feel of this top:

This scarf (100% silk) is a steal for $19.99.  The scarf I got from the Missoni line is one of the better items in that collection, and if this scarf is made the same way then I will definitely purchase it.

Finally, I don't need another bag, but this black-and-white satchel is so very tempting (pwede na for $49.99):

To see the other items in the collection, check out the full lookbook here:  Jason Wu for Target Full Lookbook with Prices.  Everything is under $60.00!

Will this collection be another Missoni and cause Target.com to crash?  I don't think so.  This is a much smaller collection (less than 60 pieces) compared to Missoni (which had over 400 pieces!).  The Jason Wu for Target line is limited to women's clothing and accessories only-- no men's clothing, no children's wear and more importantly...no houseware!  The line will get sold out nonetheless, but probably not on the first day.  Still, if there's anything in the collection that you really really want, I suggest logging on to Target.com on at 12:00 midnight EST on February 5 (1:00 p.m of February 5 in Manila).

Happy shopping!
